What is a MOOC?

A MOOC is an online course, open to all and free

t3ellem is a platform of MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) available to institutions of higher education and their academic partners. It gives everyone free access to quality and varied online courses wherever they are in the world.

All the courses present on t3ellem are of university level or of extension proposed by teachers of universities or high schools. Participants can take these courses in an interactive and collaborative way, at their own pace.
Each course is available for a few weeks, imitating the pace of classroom courses in educational institutions. While attending the course at its own pace, each participant will be able to exchange with all other participants over the course weeks.

The course is tracked entirely via the internet from a computer or a mobile terminal. Participants log onto the t3ellem platform to access their dashboard and follow the courses they are enrolled in.
Educational resources, activities and exchanges between participants and / or the teaching team are the components of a MOOC on the t3ellem platform.
No educational content is sent either by mail or by post, everything takes place on the platform, online. However, the teaching team will regularly send you by email the news of the course.

What do I need to take a course / MOOC?

To register on the platform, you will need to have a valid email address.

To take a course offered on the t3ellem platform you must have a computer or a mobile terminal connected to the internet.

The connection to the internet is essential to participate in the activities offered during the course (evaluations, exchanges on the forums). Some of the teaching resources may be available, for some courses, for download (videos, course materials).

The browser you use to sign in to the platform must be up-to-date and accept cookies.

NB: Some of the courses available on the t3ellem platform still use a flash video player incompatible with some mobile devices.

What is the commitment when registering for a MOOC?

Registration for a course on the t3ellem platform is free, libre and anonymous.
You do not have to follow the whole course or go all the way.

If you do not wish to register with your real name, this does not prevent you from taking the courses offered but you will not be able to benefit from a certificate of follow-up with success or from a certificate of the course in your name.

Can I visit a demo session?

A demonstration course is being prepared by the t3ellem team. While waiting for its finalization, we invite you to subscribe to the edX official course:

DemoX

Then register for the courses of your choice by consulting the course catalog:

https://www.t3ellem.com/cours/

How to register?

Who can register for a course on t3ellem?

Registration for courses on the t3ellem platform is free, open to everyone regardless of their level of study, their place of residence.

Some courses require a level of prior knowledge in the subject area. These prerequisites are specified on the course registration page.

Course monitoring requires a minimum level of knowledge of the language in which it is taught.

How to create an account on the t3ellem platform?

To create an account on the t3ellem platform just click on Registration and fill in the fields of the form.

The email address must be valid in order for you to receive the activation message and the information sent by the platform and the teaching teams. If you change your email address or if you made a mistake in the entry, you can change it in your account settings.

The full name that you fill in here will be the one that will appear on the certificates and certificates that the platform may eventually issue to you to attest to your success in a course (depending on what the teaching team and the institution will have chosen to propose for each course). If you made a mistake in the entry, you can change it in your account settings.

The t3ellem user name (your nickname) will be displayed on the platform at your contributions on the forums and wiki offered in the courses. This nickname is not modifiable.

The {strong_start}password{strong_end} you choose should have at least a mix of letters and numbers.

How to register for a course / MOOC?

Choose from the catalog the course(s) of your choice. On the registration page you will find details about the course content, the start date, any pre-requisites, the projected workload.

Just click on the "Enroll" button under the MOOC title. If you have not yet created an account on the t3ellem platform, you will be invited to do so. If you are not logged in yet, you will be redirected to the login page.

Once you have registered for the course, it will be listed in your dashboard.

Once the course start date has been reached, you will be able to access the course content from your dashboard by clicking on "View course".

Registration for a course that interests me is still possible, but the course has begun. Can I still register?

The pedagogical team in each course decides on the registration period to ensure that anyone who registers for the course will have enough time to complete the assessments and participate in the proposed activities.

Thus, if the registrations are still open [as specified on the registration page], this means that you can join the course.

If the registrations are closed [as specified on the registration page for the course concerned], this means that the teaching team considers that the course is too advanced for you to follow it in good conditions and / or that the first evaluations are already closed.

Courses / MOOC on t3ellem

Take a course on t3ellem

Can I take a course several times?

You can take a class several times, including registering for a new session if you have not completed the previous one.

When does my class begin and end?

A MOOC (online course) has a start date and an end date that are indicated on the course registration page. On your "learner" dashboard will be first the start date of the course and then the finished date.

These dates are set for each MOOC by the teaching team. If you are registered for a course, you will be able to continue accessing the content once it is finished by clicking on "see the archived course" in your "learner" dashboard.

Are there prerequisites to register for a course / MOOC on t3ellem?

Registration for all courses is possible, but if you do not have the basic knowledge specified by the teaching team, you may encounter difficulties to follow it.

The courses are of various levels, depending on the choice of the teaching team (general public, license / master, etc.). The level and prerequisites are indicated on the registration pages of each course / MOOC.

Can I register for a course without following it to the end?

Yes. You are free to follow all or part of a course according to the time you have and your motivations.

However, if you wish to obtain a certificate of follow-up with success, you will need to complete all the evaluations that count towards obtaining this certificate, for the courses that deliver it.

Not having completed a course has no consequences, especially you can still register for other courses offered on the platform, including new sessions of the same course.

How to register?

How to access my courses / MOOC on the t3ellem platform?

To access the course you have previously registered for, you must log in with your t3ellem account on the t3ellem platform. You then access your "learning" dashboard. If the course has started, just click on the "see class" button. If the class has not started yet, the class start date will be displayed. You will have to return to the indicated date to access the contents of the course.

How to organize to follow a course / MOOC on t3ellem?

What are the prerequisites for a course?

The courses are of various levels, depending on the choice of the teaching team (general public, license / master, etc.). The level and prerequisites are indicated on the registration pages of each course / MOOC.

Are there times to take the course?

Classes are usually set on a weekly basis. You are free to take the course at your own pace.

There may be online "live" appointments offered by the teaching team, as well as deadlines for completing assignments / evaluations.

How much work will be needed to pass a course?

The required workload is variable depending on the course / MOOC. The teaching team gives you this information on the course registration page.

Your investment will also depend on your objectives: discovery of the subject, diligent follow-up, willingness to obtain a certificate, etc.

Can I take several courses at once?

There is no limit to the number of courses you can register. However, it is difficult to attend more than one course at a time given the workload expected for each course. This will depend on the time you have, your objectives for each course (discovery of a subject, diligent follow-up, obtaining a certificate, etc.).

Exchanges and meetings

How can I interact with teachers?

Given the large number of students enrolled in each course, the teaching team can not ensure a personal dialogue with each participant. However, you can ask questions on the forum of the course provided for this purpose (the "discussion" tab of the course). Some educational teams also offer live online appointments, or animate social networks outside the t3ellem platform.

The contact address of the platform does not allow contact with the teaching team but only to obtain technical assistance.

How can I meet other participants?

The large number of participants from all continents makes it impossible to organize a joint gathering. Some educational teams encourage you to geotag on an interactive map. You will be able to organize between participants to meet your neighbors.

We remind you, however, not to disclose your personal information on the forum which is public (anyone can register for the course and view your messages).

How can I get help?

Depending on the type of request, you have three help channels:

  1. The frequently asked questions that you are currently viewing.
  2. The teaching team via the course forum
    • pedagogical questions;
    • feedback on the content of the course (shells, inaccessible resource, inversion in the answers of a quiz ...);
    • questions related to exercise and evaluation submissions (note error, note not taken into account, certification not received).
  3. Technical assistance of the platform
    • the difficulties of connection;
    • questions about the catalog of MOOCs;
    • institutional contacts;
    • etc.

Assessment, certificate, diploma

Evaluation

If I miss a week, will that affect my assessment?

Some educational teams set deadlines or deadlines for the homework taken into account in order to obtain a "successful follow-up certificate". Without particular mention, the end date of the course is the deadline for all evaluations for the certificate.

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

Each teaching team chooses an evaluation system for their course / MOOC. The evaluation taken into account for obtaining a "successful follow-up certificate" may consist of tests offered over the course weeks and / or a final evaluation. This information is communicated by the teaching staff generally on the registration page and then recalled on the "Course & News Info" page.

There is an error in a quiz

If you think there is an error in the statement, answers or correction of a quiz, contact the teaching team via the category of the discussion forum dedicated to evaluations.

There is an error in my notes

If you think there is an error in the score you obtained for an assessment, contact the teaching team via the evaluation forum category.

I have a problem with peer assessment

If you encounter difficulties with the peer assessment (submission / correction / note), contact the teaching team via the category of the discussion forum dedicated to evaluations.

My assignment / my submission was not taken into account

In order for your submission to be taken into account, you must click on the "Check / final verification" button. The "save, reset, display response" buttons (if present) do not allow you to submit your answer / assignment.

If the deadline has passed, you will not be able to submit your answer. To file a complaint, contact the teaching team via the category of the discussion forum dedicated to evaluations.

When an exercise is not noted (indicated as "training score" on the progression page) the score obtained can be visible (i/d) or masked (0/0) according to the scoring system selected by the educational team.

Certificate

The name on my certificate is not the correct one

As stated on the registration page, the "Full name" that you fill in is the one on the certificates. You can modify it in your "learning" dashboard BEFORE the generation of the certificates.

After the provision of certificates, a change in your dashboard will only be valid for future attestations, the pdf will not be generated again with the name corrected.

Does the t3ellem platform offer certificates?

It is up to the educational team of each MOOC to make the decision to value the work and the success of their learners. Thus, most MOOCs distributed on the t3ellem platform offer a "successful follow-up certificate" according to the conditions announced on the presentation page of the course.

Once the MOOC finished and closed, the certificate will be available, if you are eligible, in your dashboard. However, it is not a certificate (since your identity has not been verified), nor a diploma (since registration for the course does not correspond to an enrollment at the institution offering the MOOC).

Soon, some MOOCs distributed on the t3ellem platform will be able to offer certifications whose methods of obtaining are still to be defined and will be specified in the presentation of the courses concerned.

I did not receive my certificate

Once the MOOC is finished and closed, the certificate will be available, if you are eligible, in your dashboard.

The courses offered on the t3ellem platform do not issue any certificates. If the teaching team anticipates a certificate, this will be indicated on the course registration page. When available, the teaching team will inform the participants by e-mail and / or on the "Course Info & News" page.

If you have reached the success threshold indicated on the progress page [and no further evaluation impacts this information], you will find the link to the attestation on your "learner" dashboard next to your note. If this is not the case, contact the pedagogical team via the category of the discussion forum dedicated to evaluations / attestations.

Diploma

Is it possible to obtain a diploma by taking courses on the t3ellem platform?

The registration for a course / MOOC on the t3ellem platform does not constitute an enrollment within the institution (university or major school) offering this course. Successful completion of this course can not result in the award of a diploma or ECTS credits by this institution.

Technical issues

Registration

I did not receive an activation email

If you have not received an activation email, it may be because:

  • There was a typo in your email address.
  • Your spam filter may have considered the activation email as junk mail (spam). Please check your spam folder.
  • The registration could not take place because you may be using an old browser. We recommend downloading the current version of your browser.
  • Javascript may be disabled in your browser. Check your browser settings and confirm that Javascript is enabled.

You can verify that the registration request has been taken into account by trying to re-register with the same email address. A message will appear on the registration page notifying you that an account already exists with this address.

After this verification, you can contact platform support to request manual activation of your account.

My t3ellem user name is already in use

If the "t3ellem username" has already been used by another person, you will have to choose a new one.

We draw your attention to the fact that this username (nickname) appears next to your contributions on the forum / wiki of each course. Choose it with discernment. Indeed, it can not be modified later because it is an element used by the platform to identify you.

We recommend that you use a nickname that does not necessarily reflect your first and last name. These should only be entered in a mandatory manner for the "Full Name" field that is used to appear on the "Success Stories".

Log in

I forgot my password or my password is not recognized

If you have a problem with your password, use the "Forgot your password?" You will then receive a message with a link allowing you to choose a new password.

A password must have a mix of letters, numbers, uppercase and lowercase characters to be accepted.

I have connection problems

You may experience a connection problem if:

  1. You have not activated your account yet.
  2. You were wrong in entering your email address.
  3. You are mistaken in entering your password.
  4. Your browser has been set to not accept cookies.
  5. You are trying to connect from multiple browsers / terminals with the same account at the same time.

My email address is not recognized

If this is your first login, you may have made a typing error while signing up. You did not receive an activation email from your account. In this case, simply re-register with the correct email address but with a new "t3ellem username".

If this is not your first login, you may have entered an address that is not the same as your account (if you have more than one), that you made a typo, that you have entered a password that is not the one of this site. Feel free to use the "Forgot your password?" rather than multiply attempts because after 3 failures, your account will be temporarily blocked.

If your account has been blocked, contact the support team via the contact form provided for this purpose.

Your connection may also fail if your browser has been set to refuse cookies. These are essential to open your session and give you access to the courses you are registered for.

My account is blocked

After three login failures, your account will be blocked. Contact the support team via the contact form provided for this purpose to request a manual release if the situation is not restored after one hour.

Your connection may also fail if your browser has been set to refuse cookies. These are essential to open your session and give you access to the courses you are registered for.

Consult the course

I do not receive e-mails sent by the teaching team

The teaching team is likely to send you messages before, during and after the course. If these messages are mentioned in the course news and you do not receive them, it may be because:

  • you receive the mails in your spam folder (or in a particular tab, on gmail for example);
  • you are viewing a mailbox that does not match the address with which you registered on the t3ellem platform;
  • you have disabled the receipt of the course e-mails in the "e-mail settings" of your "learner" dashboard;
  • you use a messaging system that does not allow automatic messages to be received
  • the email address you chose when you registered is actually that of a mailing list that does not allow a non-member of the list to send an email to this list;
  • etc.

Can I take the course from my cell phone or tablet?

The use of the t3ellem platform is possible on mobile devices subject to having a sufficient internet connection. The platform does not yet propose an "offline / connection" work mode.

The platform offers educational teams the choice between two video players, one using flash technology, the other the html5 technology (only compatible with all mobile media). The teaching teams choose one or the other of these readers according to the different complementary services that they offer (adjustment of the speed of reading, proposed formats of downloads, accessibility, etc.).
